How Does the Zero3® TBA Treatment Work? Simple!*
Our treatment takes advantage of the fact that wisdom tooth buds form into teeth much later than other tooth buds. This provides an opportunity to stop wisdom teeth from ever forming without affecting the growth of other teeth.
Zero3® TBA is a one-minute treatment designed to warm wisdom tooth buds from the center outwards. The controlled application of heat deactivates the tooth bud’s ability to ever form a tooth. The goal of this preventive-care treatment is to reduce the widespread risk, disease and pain following wisdom tooth formation.
The Zero3® TBA treatment process involves 3 simple steps.
Step 1 Routine Screening*
It is routine to screen patients for wisdom teeth formation around age 14 to determine if the teeth will need to be surgically extracted. With the Zero3® TBA treatment option, children would be screened for tooth buds on a regular basis. This screening is expected to be part of a child’s normal dental exam.
Step 2 Discuss Treatment Options*
When wisdom tooth buds are identified, dentists would discuss treatment options – prophylactic extraction, monitor-and-treat, or wisdom teeth prevention. If the decision is made to block wisdom tooth formation, dentists would obtain a 3D cone beam CT scan and a dental impression. This would take about 10-15 minutes and would be done at the same time children have a routine exam. The patient is then scheduled for one minute Zero3® TBA treatment several weeks later.
Step 3 Block Wisdom Teeth*
Zero3® TBA treatment is designed to be simple. It is planned that a local anesthetic agent will be given to numb the patient. Then the dentist performs the following steps:
- A custom Zero3® guide is placed onto the patient’s teeth
- The Zero3® probe is inserted into the guide
- The one-minute treatment cycle is then activated
- When the treatment cycle ends, the probe and guide are removed with no need for stitches or recovery time
